Under the Fence AGAIN
October 23rd, 2007 Posted in poodlesRemember what I said about not letting Elly off-leash ever again? Miss Elinor Grubby Paws managed to unsnap her collar in her frenzy to track something out there in the dark! Fortunately, she had TWO collars on, the one I had the leash snapped to AND the lighted collar. She pulled so hard that she unsnapped the collar–but she still had the lighted collar on. I ran Dancer inside, then came back out with the flashlight so I wouldn’t kill myself tripping over something in the dark. I did trip over a nasty chunk of blackberry–I have a bloody scrape–but I also found Elly in no time flat–great collar!–AND SHE CAME TO ME RIGHT AWAY! I’ve been working on “happy voice recalls” and it sure paid off! I couldn’t believe I managed to keep a happy voice when I called her (I was seething inside) and I remembered to turn and start walking away from her when I did it, too.
I guess the leash gets snapped to something serious in the way of a metal buckle collar, not a plastic one!
