Sometime between when I took the dogs out for their evening pee (9:30 PM) and now (2:30 AM), a coyote (judging by footprint size) trotted down our street, stopped for a drink at the pond, and then trotted down into the woods that cover the hillside below our house. The woods, thankfully, are unbuildable, due to their steep slope, and serve as a refuge for many wild animals. How can I tell the path? Footprints in the snow that fell yesterday evening.

Elly was interesting, sniffing each footprint with enthusiasm. She clearly wanted to follow the entire track.
