Snow

January 28th, 2008 Posted in Photos, poodles

After the cold weather over the weekend abated, we had a warm-ish (40s) Sunday afternoon… and then it snowed overnight last night. The traffic report this morning was full of spun cars and even two jackknifed articulated buses. Cheryl canceled her lessons for the week–more snow is forecast for tonight and Wednesday is Bonny’s surgery–so I’m sitting at my desk, procrastinating by writing about poodles instead of getting to work on the book (sorry, Rosalind!) or getting the bills done, both of which are definitely more important than dogs. Especially photos of dogs playing in the snow.

The girls thought the 3-inch-deep and fluffy snow in our yard was pretty wonderful. Dancer decided she really had to do some serious racing and chasing; she sat and watched Elly… (Note the snow on her nose.)

Meanwhile, Elly watched Dancer, somewhat warily…

After a standoff that seemed to last forever but was probably less than a minute–although long enough for my slow-to-react camera to get photos of both dogs, in focus–Dancer exploded down the hill and into a play bow in front of Elly. (If you are a student of dog behavior, take a good look at Elly’s ears; I think Dancer managed to startle her, even though she was waiting for it!)
