Now she leaves field mice alone? Now?!

May 16th, 2008 Posted in life with poodles

Everyone in my neighborhood is having a problem with mice in the house… and I was pleased because I thought Elly was dealing with the problem outside. BUT… yesterday I found two dead mice in the toilet. That was the final straw and I called Willard’s Pest Control (whom I highly recommend).

They tell me that if you find rats or mice in the toilet they usually came up through the sewers (to which I returned them, posthaste). That they can’t help with. But they did a thorough survey of the house. We found evidence (ick!) they’d been in the kitchen–and they’d gnawed through the bag of dog food in the pantry. There are traps everywhere now.  We will lick this problem.

But I can’t help feeling the Elly has let me down. You’d think she’d stop a mouse that was messing with her food! After all, she digs them up and eats them… but apparently a mouse invading her home isn’t a priority.

Sigh.

They probably smell…and taste different! She’s got standards you know.

Maybe you should borrow Lil’ Miss…she’s caught a few around my place including the one that crawled up the dryer vent! She LOVES to hunt!
