Whee!
September 13th, 2008 Posted in trainingToday I wanted to spend some time training Dancer and I wanted to spend some time with Jay, so I asked Jay if he would come with me to train, and be a distraction. I took steak bits, a toy on a leash, and Jay… Dancer adores Jay; they play together a lot.
We warmed up for a bit–some long lead outs–and then I gave Jay the toy and asked him to stand about ten feet from the end of the weaves and have the toy ready. I signaled Dancer to weave and the instant she was done, Jay dropped the toy and took off running, the toy racing along the ground on its leash. Dancer thought that was pretty cool, but came back to me as soon as I whistled. We did that three times–her weaves were really fast. The third time Jay dropped the toy at pole number ten–and she still finished the weaves.
And I put the teeter up one notch–and she did it without hesitating. Progress. She did the teeter three times and got a jackpot all three times.
