Fun at the NADAC Trial

Dancer and I Q’d in both events–Tunnelers (2nd) and Hoopers (3rd)–on Friday, in three events (of 6) on Saturday–Tunnelers (2nd), Jumpers (3rd), and Chances–and three events on Sunday–Weavers (three sets of 6 weave poles!) (4th), Jumpers (2nd), and Chances. Dancer and I have been working on speed, and she made me proud with a stinkin’ fast 5.4 yards/second in Tunnelers Friday and a 4.9 yards/second run in Jumpers Sunday–even though it was her 13th run of the weekend! I love the six runs a day that NADAC offers–great variety, lots of fun! Dancer earned two Novice titles today: Novice Weavers (WV-N) and Outstanding Novice Jumpers (O-NJC).

Elly had a clean run in Hoopers Sunday but was over time; Saturday she had a lot of fun and took a few extra tunnels in Tunnelers. Her shoulder problem is still bothering her, but I found that keeping her sweater on seemed to keep the muscles looser and more comfortable. I took it off just before her run. She’s not limping today, either.

All novice events:

Tunnelers: 121 yds, 22.53 seconds (5.4 yps); 153 yds, 31.31 seconds (4.9)
Jumpers: 110 yds, 23.78 seconds (4.6), 104 yds, 22.44 seconds (4.6)
Hoopers: 27.29 seconds (2 tests)
Weavers: 158 yards, 51.56 seconds (3.06) (two tries for the first two sets of weaves)
Chances: 2 Qs (not timed–pass/fail class)–both runs featured a tunnel/dogwalk discrimination where I could count on her taking the tunnel–which is all that was needed. The second run also required an A-frame contact, which she got.

In Touch N Go, we maintained our perfect NQ record, although she ONLY got 40 faults, meaning that she stayed on course and got one of the five contacts. More work is requried, but this is improved over the previous record of 140 faults.

In Regular, contacts were also an issue. The dogwalk is a source of stress for her.

In our second Hoopers run, we failed to Q when I left too much distance between the last test hoop and the exit hoop; she nipped me for being too far behind her! 5 points and no Q! Little brat!
