Elly has such good manners….

Elly has always eaten lying down. Of late, however, she has taken to gently pushing–with the back of her right paw–one side of her food bowl up, away from her, and eating out of the slightly tipped bowl. In my misspent youth, my mother was very big on good manners, which included tipping one’s soup bowl away from you to gently spoon out the last drops of soup–moving the spoon away from you as well. Noiselessly. (I was not good at this process.)

I think my mother may have been talking to Elly about her manners. First we had the single bite of kibble and the slow chew, then the next bite. (Elly has never wolfed her food.) Now we have the tipped bowl.

What next? Will she demand fine china?
