Taking the girls to the park…

December 2nd, 2008 Posted in life with poodles

I took the curly girls to Marymoor Park this morning. It is a strange December here, quite warm (meaning mid-50s), and my garden is still blooming. I have an iris that bloomed last June back in bloom, and the pineapple sage and hardy fuchsia are still going strong. Today was a clean-smelling day, after heavy rain last night, and the girls ran around like crazy puppies. Elly dug a hole trying to catch something, but was very nice about walking away with me when I told her she had to.

We went early, and for one brief moment it seemed we had the entire park to ourselves. No one else in sight, and the girls chased each other up and down through the tall grass, Dancer squealing as she tried to catch Elly. Elly stopped short, and ran the other way, and Dancer was caught flatfooted and ran right by her, unable to turn as quickly. They ran hard and fast for several minutes.

Then, as they do every time they play hard and rough, they stopped, stood next to each other, and sneezed simultaneously. Then they went back to trotting purposefully along the path, shoulder to shoulder, about fifteen feet ahead of me as I walked.
