“Parts of it were excellent”

December 14th, 2009 Posted in life with poodles

Thanks to Dorothy Sayers (her detective Peter Whimsy says “parts of it were excellent” when asked about his wedding night) and Evelyn Robertson (who taught me to say that about every single agility run, before I said anything else).

And it pretty much sums up our weekend. Dancer got two Qs, both in Open Tunnelers, both of them first places–in twelve runs. She ran Tunnelers Saturday at 5.1 yards per second; on Sunday. Two excellent parts for Dancer.

After being so sore on Saturday that I scratched her from all three runs, Elly was a dog with her tail on fire on Sunday. She got a Q in Novice Hoopers, with great aplomb and dignity. SHE HELD HER START LINE STAY WHILE I LED OUT THREE OBSTACLES! Another excellent part for Elly.

But… let me just say I’ve been brainstorming how many different ways there are to teach contacts, trying to decide which method(s) might work (at all) (best) for Dancer. And reminding myself that I need to FOCUS if I’m not going to get lost on the course.

And the girls have reposted their ad on Craigslist for a new handler. I can only hope their demands are so high that no one will apply for the job.
