Foggy Day with Doggies

December 23rd, 2009 Posted in life with poodles

Many days I drive Jay to work and then drive from there on out to the great big dog park that is 1000-acres park. Today, no. It was foggy this morning, and I was not going to drive anywhere. So I hitched up the dogs (harnesses on, leashes on) and took them over to Mt. Tabor park, which was sort of fun.

Sort of.

Have I mentioned that Elly is in really good shape these days? Phenomenonally good shape, in fact. Her hips are so strong (how strong are they?!) that she can walk standing on her hind legs because I am counterbalancing her with the leash. Her hip muscles bulge as she walks. It’s beautiful. (This strength is a result of the Walkeez harness I use with her, which has allowed her to push and pull with all four legs symmetrically, which has allowed her to build up some serious strength.)

And it is really really hard on my shoulders and knees, because she pulls really really hard now.
