New Year’s Resolutions

January 1st, 2010 Posted in training

Of course I have training resolutions, plans, what-have-you.

I want to go with Dancer and Elly to NADAC Nationals. I don’t think it’s this year, but I do think it could be 2011, if I can get those pesky contacts under control.

So: resolution 1: consistency of contact training WITH reinforcement at trials.

Resolution 2: train regularly. Two or three times a week. WITH A PLAN.

Resolution 3: PLAN my training.

I think my long-term plans need to have a bit more detail… I don’t think “work on the teeter with Dancer every chance I get” qualifies as a complete plan.

Elements that need to be in the plan: teeter, contacts, weaves. Planning for USDAA snooker, gamblers, and Steeplechase. Distance work for NADAC. Speed work for NADAC. I need to find out what “double-box work” is, because I’m suddenly seeing a lot of references to it, and it may be something I need to add.
