Something new to proof against!
June 14th, 2010 Posted in trialsI took both girls to a NADAC trial this weekend…
Something new to proof against: body lotion! Dancer and Elly both went over to LICK THE KNEES of a bar setter who was wearing a new-to-her body lotion that apparently had poodle-attracting properties! (Dancer came right back to me but was kind of unfocused after that; I had to go get Elly and that was when I realized she was limping.) Dancer and Elly both licked her knees; NONE of the other dogs did. Still makes me laugh! (I think her lotion must have an ingredient in common with the sunscreen lotion Jay uses when cycling; they lick his knees too when he gets back from a ride.)
Sadly, I had to scratch Elly all the way around. She is limping
I am sad. She has an appt with her vet for a thorough checkover and I may ask for painkillers (antiinflammatories, maybe?) for her then She just seems off to me, more than just the limp, which she’s had before. It has me worried.
But Dancer was wonderful this weekend. She Qd in three of her four regular rounds and in weavers, ran clean but slightly over time in tunnelers (due to 3 mistakes on my part!), and ran clean but 10% over time in both of her Elite Jumpers runs (our first time in Elite). The first time was due to my pulling her off a jump; the second time was a nice smooth run and lots of dogs were over time–we were right in the middle of the clean-but-slow group. I was horrendously nervous about those runs, but people were lovely. I told everyone how nervous I was and every single one of them found something true AND nice to say after the runs.
Official results:
Dancer:
Novice Regular 1 Saturday: 133 yds, 45.35 sec, SCT 48.36 sec, Q and 1st (2.93 yps)

Wonder if it’s smell of coconuts!
Sorry to hear about Elly. I hope it’s nothing too serious! Saying a prayer and keeping my finders crossed.

I’ve been reading your site and find it fascinating and fun to read. How wonderful to have something so challenging and rewarding.
I hope nothing serious is bothering Elly and that she feels better soon.
