Poodles, Dog Agility, Dog Training… and Knitting

Quick report…

June 27th, 2010 Posted in training, trials

At last, we reach the end of the five-weekends-in-a-row of trials. And I am really ready for it to be over, and so are the dogs.

Elly didn’t run this weekend, just hung around and schmoozed with her zillions of buddies. (Should I be embarrassed that my dog has more friends than I do?)

Dancer did great Friday, okay Saturday, and parts were okay on Sunday. Friday evening, she Q’d and took second in Open Hoopers; she Q’d and took first in Open Tunnelers. Saturday she missed Qing in Open Chances by a lot–taking the dogwalk instead of the tunnel in the discrimination, but she did get the send out around the curve that took her to the discrimination. Her run in Elite Jumpers was an NQ as well–entirely my fault that took that extra tunnel! In Weavers, her weaves were excellent–but I sent her to the backside of a hoop…

But she did get two Qs, the only ones I really cared about, in Novice Regular, taking third once and not placing (fifth fastest) the other time. It was a hot afternoon, and she just squeaked in under time both rounds.

Sunday… well. A missed dogwalk contact in Novice Touch N Go; a missed dogwalk contact in Novice Regular; a missed dogwalk contact in Novice Regular 2; a pretty good Chances run that still was an NQ as she curved in and missed a jump… And I left early because it was hot, so that was it.

I think I’m training the dogwalk contact this week…
